Lets go to the beach....

With the summer fast approaching, and everyone brushing the dust off their passports, a little piece on beachwear seems appropriate.....

Swimwear has come a long way from the constrictive suits of the 1920's......

After the war, swimwear became somewhat more flattering and shapely, swimsuit designers had access to a product called Lastex, an early form of spandex, after this the beach fashion of the 20's where long since forgotten.....

Today there is a great range to choose from on the high street. whether your after a one-piece, or a two-piece there is simply lots to choose from, these are some of my favourites......

TED BAKER, £79.00 (this also incorporates the floral theme that's on the catwalk at the moment)

LINEA FOR HOUSE OF FRASER, £31.50
FLOOZIE BY FROST FRENCH, £9.00 FOR THE TOP, £7.00 FOR THE BOTTOMS
(found in debenhams)

Whether your going to an island in the med, the Florida keys, or just your back garden, make sure you holiday with style......

Elegance

Effortlessly elegant...

Have you ever spent 2 hours getting ready for a guy, bath, hair, make-up and all then just to put on a pair of leggings and an oversized jumper, to watch a movie?, because you think well im perfect so it doesnt matter what im wearing?  Your not alone, women all over the world want to look like they didn't make much of an effort and they naturally look that way.  Women can be effortlessly elegant and beautiful beacuse its our flaws that make us special, whether we have freckles, a few curves, or unruly naturally curly hair, they make us striking and unforgettable, take a look at some of the girls who to this day are still unforgettable........

AUDREY HEPBURN

GRACE KELLY

MARILYN MONROE

These women were beautiful, and unique, and effortlessly elegant.  There is a lot of fashion trends and while im a self confessed follower of catwalk trends and designers, sometimes its nice to 'not make an effort'....

You can find vintage clothing all over glasgow, from white gloves, to original flapper dresses, to beaded handbags from an era long since forgotten, some of my favourite shops are as follows.....

STARRY STARRY NIGHT (19 Dowanside Lane Glasgow, Glasgow City G12 9BG)
They specialise in vintage finds, from antique fairs to someones attic.

HANDBAGS AND GLADRAGS (Partick, Glasgow)
This place is literally an aladdins cave of goodies, especially great if you have a costume party to attend.

RETRO (Otago Street, Glasgow)
These guys specialise in 50's, 60's and 70's wear, great little find just off great western road.

A girls best friend?

Diamonds

What woman doesn't love diamonds?  They are elegant, classically beautiful and sparkle when they are at their best, just like every woman.
All over the spring 2012 catwalks were embellishments, sequins, beading and general sparkle, all designers from.......

RALPH LAUREN

MARC JACOBS

With this being the diamond year, it makes perfect sense (and a great excuse) to go shopping for a little diamond number ourselves, I've picked two of my favourites from the high street....

LIPSY, £65

FRENCH CONNECTION, £155

Go on add a little sparkle into your life, and show the world your best friend.

Here comes the bride.....

Wedding anyone?

Our Duchess everyone......Kate Middleton wore a wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, on her day she was and is the epitome of elegance, and class.

Its almost June and we are right in the middle of wedding season, and I thought I would do a little piece on wedding fashion. A woman's wedding dress is one of the most photographed outfits of her life and while a woman picks her 'lunch with the girl's' outfit with care, this should be especially true for her wedding dress.
Designers such as Mr McQueen or Vivienne Westwood, put as much care and love into creating a wedding gown as they do with the pieces in their other collections, here are a couple of my favourite dresses from days gone by.......

SARAH JESSICA PARKER in SEX AND THE CITY

GRACE KELLY

If you are lucky enough to afford a designer dress, there are many beautiful dress's out there at the moment, what about a dress from Vera Wang?

If not then there are beautiful copies on the high street....

BERKETEX BRIDE, 'BARCELONA'

Whatever dress you pick, make sure its special to you, and remember smile for the photographer!

Fight!

FTBC

www.fashiontargetsbreastcancer.org.uk

Pixie Geldof is one of many celebrities who work with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.  The cause was started in 1994 by Ralph Lauren who wanted to raise awareness due to losing a close friend to the disease.  There is already a lot of work being done to raise money for breast cancer, however everybody can afford to do their bit, thanks to the guys on the high street, big names such as Topshop and River Island to name but a few, sell key items every spring with 30% going to the cause!

Hopefully one day there will be a cure, but the research needs to keep going and we need to help when we can, so seeing as fashion is something i love, and i support this cause, here are some key pieces available to buy from the high street or directly from FTBC's website.......

RIVER ISLAND-£15.00

TOPSHOP-£18.00

MARKS & SPENCER-£19.50 & £15.00

Go shopping guys and support a fantastic cause....

Smile

What will I wear today?

Patrick Demarchelier is a world renowned photographer, above is is a photo shoot he did for British Vogue June 2011.  You will probably remember seeing him on cycle 15 of America's Next Top Model.

It takes a woman a long time to piece together an outfit for an event, from choosing the correct shoes, to matching your handbag, to picking out the earrings that best catch the light.  Every woman wants to look her best as the right outfit can make you feel empowered, can greatly enhance your self-esteem or give you the confidence to do whatever you feel, or say whatever comes into your mind without concern.  You never know when 'that' guy will catch you walking down the street while he is getting coffee, or whether today will be the day your boss spots your potential, it might even be the day that Elle Macpherson is recruiting for Britain and Irelands Next Top Model (she did last year)!

Every women is beautiful, although sometimes you dont always feel it inside, dont 'save' your best clothes for 'the' event, wear them everyday, get your Prada out of it's dustbag, and take your evening dress and put it over a long sleeve top with some riding boots, all of a sudden its Fashion Week in London and your Headlining the show!

Make Mr Demarchelier proud........

Knock it off!

Real or Fake?

Is this Fendi?  The answer would be no, it costs £169 from a website of replica fake handbags.  These guys don't pretend they are real but there are a lot of people out there who abuse the publics trust and prey on naivety, a genuine fendi handbag will set you back thousands, and they are made in Italy, a quick tip.... fendi imprint on the leather inside the bag 'FENDI Made in Italy', these guys stick a silver label on saying 'FENDI', be aware especially on EBAY.

You can get amzing copies of loads of designers on the high street, so while you are saving, for your Prada Tote, buy yourself one of these little beautys.........

Prada at New Look....

Chanel at Marks and Spencer....

Pick a flower.....

Spring has certainly sprung!

Dolce and Gabbana....

Louis Vuitton....

Florals were all over spring/summer 2011 catwalks, from Dolce and Gabbana, to Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs to name but a few, the only problem is we all cant afford the high end price that goes with these designers.  So if like me you wanna look fabulous and stick to catwalk trends but want to still afford to show them off in the city while cocktailing and shopping, then hit the high street, all over is amazing copies, heres a few i found.......

River Island....

Matalan....

So go on pick a flower, its spring after all

Isn' t she adorable?

To Buy or not to Buy.......That is the question??

According to my research all women should have 10 staple items in their wardrobe, one of them being an Hermes Kelly Bag, isn't it beautiful.  However the starting price for a small one is about £6,500 and there is a waiting list, unless you have a very generous bank account, or very big credit card then you will have to settle for just the window shop version.  It's not all bad news there are some fabulous copies out there, and you could eventually get one with enough work and saving.......erm i think i'll charge it!

'The' Shoe

Louboutin's anyone?

This is a shoe every girl wants and will pretty much reach their credit limit buying.

Every girl will bless 1965 as it was the year christian decided to pop into the world and even more 1992 when he decided to give girls a piece of heaven on their feet.

This amazing french designer is being honoured at the design museum in London from 1st May to the 9th July, now if like me you dont mind paying a visit to these shoes once in a while at say House of Fraser, then you must see this exhibition, even Carrie's shoes from Sex and the City 2 are on display!

Tickets start at £6, for a Christian Louboutin? don't mind if i do!

Advice? Really Karl?

Have just found out that the creative head of CHANEL Karl Lagerfeld has launched his 'exclusive' fashion site, for the more 'poor' person who can't afford CHANEL

But it does beg the question....Should we really be taking advice from someone who called adele too fat for his clothes??

Im all for coco's eternally classic style but, really Karl turn your judgement onto yourself.

Stacey's here x

Hi everyone, first blog lol

Well what do you say about glasgow? Does it equal fashion?

House of Fraser-check
Princes Square-check
St Enochs centre-check
Buchanan Galleries-check

These are only the big ones.  Theres a world of fashion in glasgow, some hidden gems that i will check out and report back, is there shoes that can last the pace of a 4 hour stint in a nightclub, that are at least 4 inches in height?  Is there a bag that gives you a feeling of power? Is there a dress that can make you feel a million pounds?

I will do my damndest to find out and also does glasgow really have......style??
